Shopping with your Thai girl
When I had western women as girlfriends I would never go shopping with them in fact most western girls accept this fact and and wait to go with a friend.Western women will even do a major grocery shopping without me. In Thailand however it's Thai peoples culture to always have someone with them at all times no wonder what kind of task it is. Ever heard that joke about how many blondes it takes to screw in a light bulb, well in Thailand it would be at least 2.
In Thailand if you want to live with a Thai girl and/or have a relationship with her then it's inevitable that you're going to have to tag along like a sheep and go shopping with her. Thai girls want bloody everything, western girls annoy you with "what do you think of this" but Thai girls annoy you with the "I want this, I want that!" like a little baby crying because they can't play and munch on some crusty 10 day old piece of bread they found behind the couch.
If I got a baht from every time I heard a Thai girl say to me ("ooohh yark dai I really want this) I'd have enough bahts for more than a few short times with a girl off beach road. But I still cringe anytime a Thai girl say this to me, though In reality they don't actually want you to buy it for them most of the time it's just something to say and that they like it.
I don't go to the malls with Thai girls, geez talk about over priced. I'll take a girl to the local market or weekly walking street in the local town to get things super cheap. Here in Pattaya on a Friday night they have a market on Thep Phrasit road. It's full of cheap things, you can buy underwear and bra for the lady for 130 baht which would start at 600 at the mall. So for $15 you could by a girl nail polish, a g-string, bra, t-shirt, some makeup, and dinner/lunch for you both.
For the most part being cheap charlie can win your more points by actually getting her more "things" making you look smarter by not spending 10 thousand baht as Thais like people who are thrifty and not stingy, it can be much more fun and less stress for you as well.

The department stores might be expensive, but much of the clothes at the markets are pretty ugly (by my standards) — went to get a dress with a thai girl and had to insist we go elsewhere, cause she deserved better… 🙂
You have a fair point, notice how I was talking about little things like g-strings, nail polish, makup, etc. I wouldn’t go as far as buying something like a dress or shoes for a girl, but when they go buy it I’ll make sure they get what I want them to 🙂
