Chiang Mai Gate Market
Chiang Mai Gate Market is a 24/7 market. This place never closes down, ever. There are always traders here selling everything from bananas to live fish. This is a must place to go for dinner any evening your in chiang mai. The best time to go would be around 5pm every other day except for Saturday when you want to come around 6pm and walk down the long Saturday walking street market fair help every Saturday of the week.
I go to this market regularily mostly on the Saturday when they have the street fair but i especially like to go there to get what's called a Knom Klock right opposite the delapidated gate which they call Pratu Chiang Mai or the Chiang Mai Gate.
If your looking for a place to stay near the market i would have to suggest staying at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel. The market is situation Chiang Mai’s Wua Lai district which is in fact an old silverware manufacturing community. Actually the street opposite is called wooli road and if you go down that street you can still see many silverware shops selling their wares, but again you really want to explore that on a saturday night otherwise the walk down will be full of cars.
Any good restaurant near here for breakfast?
