Top 10 Richest people in Thailand
The Forbes billionaire rich list is out and no surprise that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are still in the top 10 but Thailand now has 10 billionaires on the list! Somehow I think there's more but have their assets tucked away in some fund no one knows but what Forbes was able to do was find 10 Thai billionaires here's the breakdown. Yes Thaksin Shinawatra is still on the list.
If you look at the list I wrote for the richest people in Thailand 2011 the global economic climate hasn't hampered any of these billionaires in fact Dhanin the frontrunner for the richest man in Thailand increased in 2 years from 2.8 billion to a staggering 14.3 billion dollar net worth. He is now the 58th richest man in the world.

#1 Leading the Thai billionaires is Dhanin Chearvanont, chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group. He and his family were worth US$14.3 billion (Bt426 billion) as of this month. Dhanin saw his net worth increase by $7 billion from the same month last year.
#2 Trailing is liquor and property tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, who has just completed the $11-billion acquisition of Singapore's Fraser and Neave. His net worth of $11.7 billion put him at 82nd, up from 184th last year with $5.5 billion.
#3 Krit Ratanarak, $1.95 billion ($1.2 billion as of March 2012). Krit's family is a major shareholder of Bangkok Broadcasting and TV, which operates Channel 7.
#4 Aloke Lohia, chief executive officer of Indorama Venture, $1.3 billion ($1.9 billion).
#5 Thongma Vijitpongpun, CEO of Pruksa Real Estate, $2 billion.
#6 Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth, founder and CEO of Bangkok Airways, $1.85 billion.
#7 Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and family, $1.7 billion. Not even sure if this counts since he's not in Thailand but since his businesses are located in Thailand I think it does.
#8 Vanich Chaiyawan, chairman of Thai Life Insurance, $1.4 billion.
#9 Keeree Kanjanapas, CEO of BTS Group Holdings, $1.3 billion.
#10 Wichai Thongtang, lawyer turned investor, $1.1 billion.
Suspiciously missing from the list is the heir of the Red Bull Fortune. Did he spend it all buying a new fleet of Ferrari's?
wow how did Dhanin increase his wealth seven times in two years ? How does thaksin make the list when they froze his assets and tried to steal from him ? Anyway goodluck to them. Probably wont bump into these guys to ask em how at nana or cowboy.
