Nana Disco Bangkok

The Nana Disco in Bangkok was the first nightclub I'd ever been to. For a young teen to say the least it was a bit of an eye opener. Lot's changed since the 90's though when free entrance and cheap drinks were normal. Now 200 baht entrance (with free drink) is actually a deal and the re-opening of the Nana disco me surprised re-opening with well known dj's and penthouse girls. Still the place is what it is and if you're looking for late night club with a good mix of bar girls and some decent music in fun atmosphere it's a cool venue. The place is completely different since re-opening last month and the most polished I've ever seen definitely worth checking out.

If you're interested in checking out the changes made or just want to experience it I suggest you get there at 1am the club is in full swing about 2 and finishes I heard at 5 I've normally got someone by then. The Nana Disco is at the Nana Hotel right across the road from Nana Plaza.

I never liked it personally – noisy etc. and full of sex tourists

Just wondering, Chris, if you ever studied English grammar at all. From the looks of your writing it seems highly unlikely that you’ve had even a rudimentary education in grammar. It would make your articles easier to understand, and they have more credibility, if they were written in proper English and not like something my 10-year old daughter would write.

It’s true, i’m not good at writing, i simply write the way I talk, perhaps I should just do podcasts because it’s funny when I talk people don’t go round saying “you have bad grammar”. Random. Anyway I’m a math geek and a software engineer and I’d probably laugh at you trying to do equations that I deem easy for a 10 year old. I’m not a writer, however as for credibility enough people know how I roll to know that when I say something it’s true.

Chris, I have read through your blog and your writing is excellent! Keep up the good work!

@John Williams, go back to your 25000 baht English teacher job… and here is some sticky rice to make you survive another day.

Oh look. Another uneducated numbskull. Having been trained as a journalist many years ago I find it irritating that anyone that can figure out how to start a blog automatically considers themselves a writer capable of expressing intelligent thought that is worth other people’s time to read. You must be of the generation that grew up playing computer games and never really learned much else. Well, good luck to you. Since all of you are just as uneducated you won’t be able to distinguish between the good, the bad and the just plain mediocre.

Educated types who have a stick up their ass because they think their degree qualifies them to look down on others make me sick. Bloggers arn’t writers they are bloggers, the distinction is pretty clear and very few have claimed to be “John Grisham”. In the end most bloggers I know are successful and make good money, journalists on the other hand…very very few. Personally I find stuckup types irritating, you don’t need a thesaurus to convey a message.

wow, what a dick comment. how about you learn to speak and write thai? then you could flame him all you want in thai and none of us would have to read/understand your asinine remarks.

Chris, I have a high school diploma. That’s it. But that’s the point really. I was taught English grammar when I was 13 and have been able to write, and speak, proper English since then. Either you are too lazy to do so or no one ever taught you how to do so. In the latter case it’s a fault of your educational system and not yours. The real problem is that you, and others in this stream, seem to revel in the fact that you are ignorant of this body of knowledge. I don’t know if you are American or not but if you are then you are the type of person who would have voted for George W. Bush for president, another person who seemed to revel in the fact that he was a know-nothing.

Everyone has their skills, I never finished high school myself, but worked 10 years in Business Intelligence including 2 years as a database manager for Random House. I am Australian, lived in the USA and never voted for anyone. I really don’t care. You’ll find that most other publications/blogs are proof read by others. I don’t care to do that mostly because this site is an oxymoron. I’m not a writer and don’t claim to be one I’m just doing my thing. Thanks for reading.

John> Go back to your toilets to read Hemingway and stop judging others. This is a blog about daily life in thailand, not a Shakespeare forum.
Oh wait! Did I misspelled Shakespeare??? 😉

I can’t believe that anyone who claims to be “educated” could possibly be as narrow minded as you obviously are. Education is more than merely memorising a bunch of rules and their application – and if you truly were educated and not just some toxic troll out to piss-off the world – you’d know that. As to whether Chris is or isn’t a writer, well most intellectuals in the field of literature would argue that he is. Grammar, spelling – none of it really matters. These factors are just elements that help define Chris’ style and voice. We can understand him, the information he offers is valuable, and we ‘like’ him – this is what’s important. Grammar etc has it’s place but it isn’t here you sanctimonious fucking retard. Sure everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that doesn’t mean everyone’s opinion is valuable and to be respected. Your’s for example isn’t worth shit. Now run along little troll and stop giving intellectuals and academics a bad name.

    Chris,
It’s been nearly 10yrs since I’ve been back to Thailand. At the time, there was no entry fee to get into Nana Disco. I do recall a bar fine to take a lady out the bar. 1500-2000 baht was about the average price for short time. I plan to go back the end of the year. What can I expect and be concerned about if any? Are there more ladyboys than before that I should be aware of? lol. I know that alot can change in 10yrs. Thx!
