How to buy a Thai sim card and Topup your sim online
Are you coming to Thailand for the first time? Or are you coming to Thailand to meet someone at the airport and need to use a phone to call them when you get here? Then you definitely need a Thai sim card that can work in your phone. You can buy a Thai sim card online and even top it up online using a credit card paypal and even google checkout!
I'll tell you how this can be really useful. Say your coming to Thailand but don't have a Thai sim card and you are meeting someone at the airport and of course like in Typical Thai fashion they are not there. Either late or maybe not even coming. Trying to find a phone to call the person can be annoying if you buy the sim card before you get to Thailand as soon as you land and are waiting in immigration line you could be calling them finding out where they are. I remember one time i had to meet someone and waited for hours because they were at the wrong gate! OMG it was like 2am before they came out found me.

Another thing tat I found useful about this service is that it takes Paypal. Lets say you live in a big apartment building in Thailand it's 1am in the morning and you need to make a call and you have no credit on your phone. I've used this service to top up my Thai sim card using Paypal.
One thing I'll say about the sim card and the service is it's expensive to make calls like 2-4 baht a minute even when your in Thailand. Once you arrive head to a 12call center and get them to change the plan your on. There are all different kinds of plans ones that are cheap for messaging ones that are cheap for phone calls. That's why many people in Thailand use those dual sim phones because there are different plans that are cheaper for different things. I even saw a phone the other day that had 4 sims you could plug into it! Either that or you have 4 girlfriends!
The topup service will work not just for 12call but for any network in Thailand but I'd only use it for emergencies going to 7-eleven is much easier.
If you decide to buy the sim card make sure you give yourself at least a 30 day head start, they arn't the fastest about sending them out and I'd hate to see you get to Thailand before the Thai sim card arrives in your country. Sounds like a bad eBay experience.
Since there are no registrations required to activate the sim the whole thing could be taken over by scammers who could use the phone to launch scams against Thai people. But this isn't a scam and it really does top up your phone and they WILL send you the Thai Sim card anywhere in the world.
Hi Chris,
How do you ask for top up credit in Thai at the 7-11?
I’ve been using bat toorasaap and although it works I don’t think it’s right!
Cheers,
Joe
