Beer Bars In Udon Thani

Everyone overlooks Udon Thani, they fly in and go straight to the border, and to be honest that's what i've done for years, sometimes just skipping the whole Udon flight and flying straight into the Vientienne instead. I never saw any reason to go to do Udon but I thought this time I would, so I decided to spend a week in the city to find out really what this place is all about.

I heard back in 2015 a lot of the brothels had closed down and the Vietnam and Laos girls had moved over the border (where you can still get laid for 600 baht). So the real seediness I know of had moved out or moved underground but I know there was still a lot of fun to be had in the city and where else to start but of course at the girly bars also known as Beer Bars.

When I think of Beer Bars I reminisce about my times in Pattaya. Cheap beers, plenty of girls and fun chill relax times. I kinda think those times are over in Pattaya though. 100 baht + beers and crazy bar fines same as Chiang Mai I thought Udon Thani would be the same but I was pleasantly surprised. Most bars were 60 baht beers and everywhere was only 300 baht bar fines. WTF This place is probably the cheapest for girls in all of Thailand!

There are two main beer bar areas, Nutty Park and Day & Night. I can't say which area is better they both have their own style and aren't really that big with only a dozen bars each but they all seemed opened so just try both of them out. Along the road between each area (5min between each) is another dozen or so bars and massage parlors you could try out.

Nutty Park Udon Thani

The smaller of the two areas is a big expat haunt with the girls working at the bar likely to be the boyfriend of someone. When you look down looks like only several bars. But it's an L shape design so when you get to the end you can make a right that leads to more bars. Walk down and back and if you see something you like have a drink. Just before you enter Nutty Park there is a bar to the right called Sisters. Don't go in here, they charge you a lot for drinks and the pressure will be on.

Day & Night Udon Thani

This place reminds of the boxing ring in Chiang Mai without the boxing and without the tourists and a lot cheaper. There are a tonne of expats who don't look like work kinda like beach whales on a stool. This area is bigger than Nutty park, some cute girls, the quality here definately better than Chiang Mai but not the same as Bangkok. What strikes me strange about the bar area here is the amount of Thai's visiting and drinking in the bars. Seems like each bar goes and drinks on other bars it's like a little community here.

All in all I have to say that I really like the beer bars in Udon Thani although you might want to pop in and out, the week i was there i could no longer walk down the road without a dozen girls calling out my name.
