Why I will never live in the USA again
I moved to the USA before my 22nd birthday and at one point I'll write an article about how exactly I did that with virtually no money no degree and no job but you see I don't think I'd like to tell anyone how to move to the USA because it's a country I'll never live in Again I'd rather write an article on how to live in Thailand.
So besides the fact that I'd probably fly into the states and the IRS would be on my ass for not filing my last few tax returns the real reason I choose not to live in the country again is because it's there is no real challenge.
Granted I lived in Newport Beach Orange County which is in Southern California less than an hour away from LA (if there is no traffic 2-3 if there is!). Where I worked was in Irvine one of THE safest places to live in America, super clean and right near the beach. Good job nice car blah blah blah and with the best weather in the world why wouldn't I want to live there?
Simply put America is too good. I guess this is a compliment to the USA because really it is a great place to live and there is so much to do, so much so that I get bored easily in Thailand because there isn't really as many things to do that I enjoy, I can't go surfing, climb to 15000 feet, camp on the beach and eat smores, go skiing in the winter or go to the club where all my best mates are at, drive 4 hours to Vegas or gunshot to Tijuana for some debauchery.
I am willing to give up all the awesome things I can do in So Cal just to live one more day in Thailand because it's real. Thailand is so real and dog eat dog that only the smart ones are able to survive it in the long term. I want something challenging and things were so easy for me in America that it just gave me no more challenge.
I love the nitty gritty of Thailand and how chaotic it is, I love how it's not perfect and as much I may complain about things it's the things I don't complain about that makes it such a wonderful country to live in. They say that Thailand is still in the developing world yet it's not developing much except for more concrete buildings. There are no developments going on to improve the system, politics, crime and corruption. It's still Anarchy over in Thailand and that's what I love about it.
When you live in a perfect world where the sidewalks are perfect, the grass is always green, and Mexicans doing everything for you you're no longer living. Your just going through the motions day in and day out. While there are awesome things to do in So Cal finding the time to do them everyday is impossible, whereas in Thailand I can have fun every single day of my life here. I'm not going to die saying I wished I fucked more or wished I had spent my best years buzzing around Thailand enjoying myself and having more fun than I'll ever have in the USA.
I've already explained why Thai girls are better than western girls so on a relationship level which everyone wants whether it be fleeting or lasting you can find someone who is perfect for you in Thailand, no matter what her age! Finding something similar in California even with a population of 30+million you'll search for years without finding her and you probably will be some girl off the farm in Isaan will still have a better body!
In Thailand I can have a few slender sexy fun girls as girlfriends and access to thousands more, I can eat well but spend next to nothing on food, I can live out of a suitcase and don't have to carry my world around with me. Life is simple, life is easy, and life is so much more fun in Thailand.
Yea! Thats so true. Sweden, cold, idiot people, just spinning around. Thailand; cheap, fun and warm
Much more shit in Hungary, that’s why I live in Krabi! 🙂
All true, except the chaos also starts to get to you after awhile, I’ve heard that the average foreign residency in Thailand is five years.
looks like i’ve got less than 2 years to go ouch!
i agree chris. as an american i got sooooo bored also and thats why i left. i like to experience the world. lived in russia 2 years and now china 3. hoping thailand will be my next stop. i’ve visited twice and loved it. some chinese girls are pretty hot but thai girls got them beat hands down.
What’s daily life in China like?
I’ve had my eye on a possible move there in another 4-5 years.
Well, I guess many people in the States and elsewhere would argue about the “too easy to live” part (40m+ people under the poverty level in 2010) but what really struck a chord is the “challenge” part.
I’d really be interested to know in details what kind of challenge you face here that is so compelling, at least give us an example, beside the usual “more chicks for the buck” which is actually not a challenge here 🙂
Sure everyone has different experiences, challenging I’m talking about just getting by in Thailand, it’s a lot more difficult than in the USA.
Evading the rat race comes with some drawbacks like less buying power, it is true wherever you are.
Living off cheap deals on the internets would be an even greater challenge in the States if you ask me.
What is better about Thailand is the women are nice. Just because you smile at them, they don’t feel “sexually harassed” which is always up to the woman in the States. Its a double whammy, you are supposed to make the first move, but if its unwelcome, you are sexually harassing. It doesn’t exist here.
Sure, women had it tough 50 years ago, but now its too far the other way. They get preferences in promotions, and job opportunities, etc., but do they ever offer to pay for dinner? Nope.
I think the tax situation (of inequality for single, childless, hard working people) is a problem that will drive some to work less or move away. Cali is ok but you live to consume in most of the populated places in the USA. So I work 2000+ hours a year to pay the lease on a car (no I don’t lease) and then extra car insurance in the case someone steals it… i buy a house that is over valued (even today as compared to the average wage vs price of house up to about 20 years ago), and pay so much in taxes and insurance that in less than 40 years those costs will be as much as what my house cost…. then I can’t change the color, put political signs in my yard and have to carry around bags in case my dog poops in public? ugggg. A beer, a beach and a babe is all I need. go tax and consumerize the lemings left in the USA, but not me.
I agree with much of what you say and that is why I ditched the USA also even though I lived my last 15 years in Austin which is definitely one of the hippest places to live. This October represents 10 years for me in Chiang Mai and this is the most special place in Thailand for folks of consciousness who are removing themselves from the phony illusion of “happiness” in most Western countries. I will not remark about other areas though I have visited quite a few places. Chiang Mai has Community with a capital C and has some of the best and healthiest restaurants, the most yoga studios, hot springs, alternative healers, musicians, an olympic size salt water swimming pool, organic food markets, endless magical temples, and very beautiful gatherings of 100-200 folks celebrating their life of joy and appreciation for living here. There are some of the most beautiful and authentic ladies living here and I know this because I know them and have befriended them. They are not “easy” but then, “easy come easy go” and if that’s what you’re into you can go to Loi Kroh Road and find it.
Well said….lucky bastard 🙂
I agree on some points, sure. But Thai girls ? Really ? WhAt exactly are their redeeming qualities ? Realistically, none. They are not good. They are stupid, and ace concerned about all the wrong things. Yes, their bodies are amazing when they are young. But, man are they stupid, and they are violent once they become adults. Now, take a Khmer girk. Wow, if you had wxperienced one , you would be singing a different tune, beleive me. Yes, dreams come true for awhile in Thailand, but I guarantee a nightmare is coming up if you have a Thai girl.
Kwhmer girls are the coolest and I am very compatible with them. Imagine a girl who will have a diamond put in her teeth. I like that. I like their comfort. They feel good. They feel good, physically and emotionally. That girls are spoiles rotten and their personalities suck. They ate like men in their thinking. Never had a problem with a man on my motorcycle, but girls are the most agressive by far, like western girl agressive. I have luved in Thailand over ten years and worked hard rhw whole time. Thai girl adults have no magic. And lose their femininity.
