Server Upgrade

As you probably know I've been having a lot of problems with my shared hosting lately so I figured it was about time to upgrade. So I've moved the blog over to a Virtual Private Server for you geeks out there. The problems I had with the shared hosting was mostly to do with the Database layer. I can't exactly get up GoDaddy about it because it is more than likely somoene else using the server causing the problems. At least now with a VPS I shouldn't have any more problems with the database and you should be able to connect to the blog faster. I didn't bother to test if things would be faster but they probably will be a bit faster. The amount of javascript added to the page from the adservers really slow things down but not much more I can do about them.

Since already had a shared hosting account with godaddy and just wanted to move over the problem sites which was this one and a new site i'm working on now. So moving it to a whole new server was a bit of a hassle I havn't used Plesk for years now and cause it's wordpress I have it hosted on Linux, argghhh I'm a windows guy so this stuff goes over my head. Few things I think you should be aware if you own a blog and move it to a virtual server.

• Setup all the databases and websites before moving over the old site
• Test the website before you change the nameservers over
• Upgrade PHP to 5.3

So i've been a bit quite lately because of this move, it's actually taken a few days to make sure everything was setup correctly, but in the end I changed the nameservers over and didn't appear to have one problem after go live which is good.
