Swimming at the Chiang Mai Rock Quarry
I've been writing a bit about Chiang Mai lately because i'm back in town after my trip to Pattaya and i'm on this whole healthy living trip which has a little to do about this post today because I'm the kinda guy that doesn't wanna sit still doing nothing all the time and now that I'm actually waking up early in the morning and no longer going to the clubs I'm finding that I'm bored and need things to do. So I'm going back to all my favorite spots in Chiang Mai swimming a little walking a little and the amount of things you can do in Chiang Mai during the day is astounding.
One little known spot is the Chiang Mai Rock Quarry out past Hang Dong. What you think is small is actually quite large and that's only if you can find it! Don't expect any signs guiding you to this hidden Chiang Mai gem. The water is a cool blue or blue/green depending on the time of day you arrive and the towering red rock cliffs just make this a photographers paradise. I'm no photographer but I went the other day and met some English girls who found it after 3 hours of searching so I thought I'd write a post with a decent map for people to get to the quarry.

(with the map make sure you check out the 3D view of the quarry to get a better look as well on the cross roads so you remember how to get there)
If you try to get a red bus to take you there's a 99% chance that the driver has no idea what your talking about or even where it is. Best thing to do is rent a motorbike or car and go there yourself. You still could do it with the red bus just pay him 1000 baht to take you out there and come back you'll need about 2-3 hours. There's no shade and at the moment of this writing someone bought the land on top and are now building a restaurant that will accomodate more people. This is needed because the place is really hot during the day. My advice is to leave Chiang Mai around 3:30pm and head there. You'll have a few good hours there and it won't be as hot.
Another landmark on my map. Thanks, Chris!

Crazy that i lived in CNX for over 2 years (a few months just outside of Hang Dong but still with the addy) and never heard of this!

Video of last year when two students died there.
Did they die of the impact of the jump or did they jump on a rock or just drown?
they drowned after getting cramps, always stretch before swimming.
